INDONESIA We are back to present a performance that raises the theme of nationality in its 42nd latest play, entitled The Sweet Red Bridge. Unique and tickling the curiosity, this impressive horror story title actually offers a deep reflection on the values ​​of the nation and state.

This work was written by Agus Noor and Joind Bayuwinanda, and directed by Agus Noor himself.

The performance, supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture, will be staged at the Taman Ismail Marzuki Grand Theater on September 27 and 28, 2024.

This time, Indonesia Kita features famous actors such as Butet Kartaredjasa, Cak Lontong, Akbar Kobar, Abdel Achrian, Inaya Wahid, Sha Ine Febriyanti, and many more.

They will perform with musical accompaniment from the Sinten Remen Orchestra, as well as dance performances from the DvK Art Movement.

The Sweet Red Bridge tells the story of a historic bridge that witnessed various important events for local residents.

The bridge is not only a symbol of the struggle of the veterans who defended it from enemy attacks, but also a place of residence for the marginalized.

Amid rumors that the bridge would be demolished to make way for the construction of a high-speed train, rumors emerged that the bridge guardians were demanding sacrifices, sparking conflict among residents.

In his written introduction, Director General of Culture Hilmar Farid highlighted the historical reflection in this play. According to him, this performance invites us to look back at the current condition of the nation, and to question whether we still maintain the ideals of independence.

Agus Noor himself emphasized that The Sweet Red Bridge is a symbol of struggle and history that is often forgotten.

“This bridge is a landmark of the people’s struggle, and the figure of the ghost crying on the bridge depicts the unexpressed feelings of those who fought for independence,” said Agus.

As one of the founders of Indonesia Kita, Butet Kartaredjasa expressed his appreciation for the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

“This performance is our effort to continue to foster a sense of love for Indonesia. Government support means a lot to us in conveying national messages,” he said.
