The Oukitel K16 is a compact smartphone, but it seeks to deliver a premium proposition by adopting an unprecedented design and also a good set of specifications.
In other words, it is a good choice for nostalgic fans who lived through the era of smartphones with small screens. But is it worth importing the K16 or does the national market have more attractive options?
TudoCelular tested the Oukitel K16 and shows all its details in this complete analysis.
Design and accessories
The Oukitel K16 is a smartphone that will certainly fit in anyone’s hand. This is because it is small and brings a feeling of nostalgia to those who lived through the era of compact cell phones.
Here we have reinforced polycarbonate construction, something that is basically a standard for the brand’s smartphones. Furthermore, Oukitel wanted to differentiate itself by bringing a curious format to the K16.
This is very evident when looking at the top of the device, where there is a more pronounced curvature, while the bottom forms a kind of point.
On the back there is just a camera surrounded by a gold ring, while we also have a gold band separating the body of the device because at the bottom we have a finish that simulates leather.
It’s a very interesting choice by the brand in terms of finishing, as it gives that air of elegance to a device that claims to be premium.
On the right side we have the volume and power buttons, on the left there is a SIM chip drawer that also serves as a memory card, while on the front we have a camera on the thicker upper edge and also a lower home button in a golden tone.
Finally, at the bottom, we have a USB-C port for charging, microphone and nothing else. In other words, no P2 input for wired headphones.
And in the box of this device, Oukitel sends the K16, manuals, USB cable, charger and also a case. In other words, a complete set for you to go out using this small smartphone.
Screen and hardware
Featuring a 3.5-inch IPS LCD screen, the Oukitel K16 is very reminiscent of a Samsung Galaxy Pocket. This panel delivers HD resolution, something that is not bad for a smaller display.
The processor is the MediaTek MT8788, which is an octa-core chipset with a maximum clock speed of 2 GHz. It works in conjunction with 8 GB of RAM, and you can use the virtual RAM to expand another 6 GB to reach 14 GB of RAM.
The internal storage is 128 GB and there is a MicroSD card slot so you can increase this value to up to 1 TB.
In general terms, the performance of the Oukitel K16 is quite good for its price range and size. As the lower resolution screen does not demand much from the chip, it ends up delivering good interface navigation without any choking.
In our tests, this set achieved around 173 thousand points in AnTuTu and 297 points in single-core with 1325 points in Geekbench multi-core. As for the ability to keep open applications running in the background, we had a good result.
The Oukitel K16 managed to keep most applications open and this even includes games like Pokémon Go, which took a little longer to load when first opened.
The Oukitel K16 battery has a capacity of 3,050 mAh. When charging, the company does not inform whether the K16 supports any fast charging protocol.
In our standard tests here on the bench, it was possible to notice that it does not support this type of technology. 15 minutes of plugging in guarantees around 19% battery, 30 minutes delivers around 30%, one hour reaches 70% and it is necessary to wait 2 hours and four minutes to reach 100% battery.
A complicated performance for a cell phone that has a small battery. Slightly faster charging would be a good option so that the Oukitel K16 spends less time stuck at the socket.
In terms of connectivity, here on the Oukitel K16 we have Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, dual-SIM 4G connection and NFC for contactless payments.

Software
The Oukitel K16 is sold with Android 13 as its operating system and it features the Play Store so you can download your favorite apps.
In other words, an essential point for anyone who wants to import this device.
A curious detail is that the K16 launcher completely deviates from the Android standard. Here we have black icons with gold edges and I believe this serves to give that appearance of consistency.
In any case, the interface flows well and, despite the great customization, this ends up not having much of an impact on overall performance. The company also delivers its own set of widgets here.
There is also an FM radio for those who miss this native feature on most current cell phones and a voice recorder.
Now, what we don’t know is the software policy for this device. In other words, there is no guarantee that it will receive an update to Android 14, for example.
Still, at the time we tested the K16, it was running this year’s March security patch. In other words, it’s not the most current, but it’s also not something from last year, something we’ve already seen happen with smartphones from Chinese brands.
Cmeras
Announced with an 8 megapixel front camera and a single 48 megapixel rear camera. Starting with selfies, this sensor is ok and will be able to deliver good photos on a daily basis.
But of course you shouldn’t expect extremely sharp images, since the lack of resolution can complicate the results, especially in poorly lit places or on cloudy days.
As for the rear camera, unfortunately, we were unable to test it. This unit that Oukitel sent to TudoCelular had a problem with the main sensor when we took the device out of the box.
In other words, no matter how much we tried to take a photo, for some unknown reason, the software was unable to recognize the main camera.
We contacted support to request another device, but the company was unable to ship it in time. Therefore, this gap will remain open here in the analysis due to the device’s hardware problem.
Finished
The Oukitel K16 is a device that has a compact body, construction and design that will attract attention wherever you go and also an ok set of specifications.
However, you shouldn’t expect highly powerful performance here, much less spectacular photos. In our honest opinion, the K16 is a great secondary smartphone, whether for work or for you to take to the club.
That’s because it fits in any pants pocket or even in those smaller bags that women love.
In short, the Oukitel K16 will handle everyday activities, but unless you are very nostalgic, this smaller screen in the long term might make many people miss the larger displays.
And, as we are talking regarding a smartphone that needs to be imported, its price of approximately R$708 ends up becoming R$1,345 following the heavy federal taxes and ICMS for Remessa Conformo.
Therefore, the Oukitel K16 is an interesting choice for those who insist on having a compact smartphone. In other words, it is a niche product.
This is because you can find Galaxy A14 and Moto G14 in the range of R$800 in the national market and with a local warranty. Both will give you similar or even better performance, but of course without the small screen.
Another option for those who enjoy Chinese smartphones is the Redmi Note 12, which can be found in importers for around R$1,000 or even less on sale. In other words, it is much more advantageous to buy one of the national smartphones or the Xiaomi device.
The Oukitel K16 is not yet available in Brazilian stores. To be notified when it arrives.
