Ötztal film premiere: Otto Neururer. Hopeful eclipse in Langenfeld

On November 27th, the International Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust, the cultural department of Längenfeld invited to an Ötztal film premiere.

Since 2019 the film “Otto Neururer. Hopeful Eclipse hit cinema screens, film festivals and screens internationally. It was presented in Längenfeld on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Otto Neururer was a priest from and in Tyrol who did not bow to the Nazi regime. His attitude towards life to live humanity, with the premise “all people are equal before God”, brought him into conflict with the National Socialists. Otto Neururer paid for his steadfastness, he was murdered in the Buchenwald concentration camp. In 1997 he was beatified.

The evening in Längenfeld with the film presentation of “Otto Neururer. Hopeful darkness” shows that the great interest in the story of Pastor Otto Neururer has not decreased since its premiere in October 2019.

The film has meanwhile received numerous awards at international festivals. The film music by Bernhard Falkner and the Ötztal musician Marlon Prantl, who wrote the title song “Bist du bei mir” for the film and interpreted it with “TyRoll”, received the prize for the best music at the International Sound and Music Festival in Pula /Croatia. There is a translation in French and one in Italian.

In the discussion following the film screening, director Hermann Weiskopf talked regarding the film production. He emphasized that a film project can only take place in a good team. From the idea of ​​dedicating a film portrait to the priest Otto Neururer to the Ötztal premiere, many intermediate steps were necessary and many people were inspired by the idea.

Above all, the actor Otfried Fischer, with his passion for film, played a major role in the engagement of the actors and actresses involved in an exciting cast. Among others, Julia Gschnitzer and Karl Merkatz will be there.
