Renée Schenk died today, April 7th, following a long illness at the age of 96 in Villa Schenk on Irrsee in Upper Austria. This was announced by the theater in der Josefstadt of the APA. Since their marriage in 1956, the Schenks have been among the best-known proponents of the stage and theater scene in Austria.
The two met at the Max Reinhardt Seminar, where Renée – still under her maiden name Michaelis – also studied. At first, Renée Schenk, affectionately called “Mika” by her husband, was still an active actress before she gave up her own career in favor of her Otto. For example, she acted as Maria in the legendary ORF series “Leitner Family”. . And at the Josefstadt she might be seen as Ida in “By Candlelight” by Karl Farkas and Siegfried Geyer, as Daisy Delahay in the tabloid comedy “Charley’s Aunt” and most recently in 1968/69 as Yvonne in “Herzliches Beileid” by Georges Feydeau.
