Ota Váňa from Kabát: Czechs have always liked rock music – Novinky.cz

Rock band’s international successes topped off with a big win

After selling out arenas across the country with an ambitious tour, it’s no surprise the band is reaping the benefits. Not only are they exceedingly popular with fans, but they recently topped a major popularity poll, proving their enduring appeal.

When asked about their success, they said, "Probably because we always have the trust of the fans, who will get us to the podium with their votes sent to many polls. I also think that good rock music has long been popular in the Czech Republic. Living proof is, for example, Olympic, which always has sold-out concerts. Czechs have always liked rock music."

The band dedicates a lot of time to connect with their fans. 2023 proved no less intense earlier.

They continued, "But it was worth it. The concerts were amazing and people came to them. I always say that together with them we will forget about everyday problems and just have fun. After all, entertaining people is one of the main reasons why we are here."

The band well-deservedly took a break after their intense touring schedule, each member making their own schedule for the remainder of the year.

When asked about their absence from a major awards ceremony this year, they described their reasoning:

"We didn’t visit this year? In November, we ended the tour with two concerts in Prague’s O2 arena. We took a vacation after it and everyone made their own schedule. Not all of us are available, and since we go to events like the Czech Nightingale together, we decided to excuse ourselves this year." They jokingly added, "But if we were to succeed, we filmed a rather funny toast after the last concert in Prague."

"After that time off, we’ll start getting together and play the ideas that each of us have collected for new songs. We will be playing festivals from the beginning of June to September and we are looking forward to enjoying the summer season again. We want to change the program a little bit, so I think people have something to look forward to.
