ÖSV General Secretary about Matthias Mayer: “He is on the road to recovery”

ÖSV General Secretary Christian Scherer said this in an ORF TV interview in Kitzbühel on Friday. Three-time Olympic champion Matthias Mayer was so noticed at an event in Kitzbühel on Thursday that police intervention was necessary. The ÖSV then published health problems in a broadcast.

Scherer said they are in close contact with Matthias’ family and cannot publish any further details following consultation. Nor regarding the Carinthian’s current whereregardings.

“On the road to recovery”

“Matthias is doing well, he is already on the mend,” said Scherer. “He has given so much to the Austrian ski family, the Austrian sports family, it is also our responsibility to support such an extraordinary athlete even following his career. We will continue to do so.”

Mayer, who unexpectedly retired from active sport in Bormio in December 2022, works for the ÖSV as an advisor to the speed riders and also looks following the young talent there. He is also an ambassador for the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
