In Ostermiething (Braunau district) today – May 8th – a police patrol became aware of two moped drivers. When they wanted to stop and check them, both fled in different directions. A driver engaged in a chase of several kilometers before he might be caught. It was a 13-year-old boy. The other two fugitives – a driver and a passenger – turned themselves in following contacting them by phone. None of the three had driver’s license. All participants are displayed multiple times.
EASTER RENTAL. At around 3.30 p.m. on May 8th, a police patrol in Ostermiething noticed two moped drivers at the intersection of Steinbruchweg and Moosweg. They were traveling without license plates and without lighting equipment. The officers activated the blue light for a check. Upon visual contact, the two moped drivers suddenly turned and drove away. One of the mopeds was steered by two people on the Moosweg in an accelerating driving style. The second moped, which made a very loud operating noise, drove along Steinbruchweg in the direction of Ernsting.
Moped driver escaped at 115 km/h
Despite the flashing blue light and the subsequent horn, the second moped driver continued to drive at significantly excessive speeds, sometimes up to 115 km/h, on several municipal and state roads and through urban areas in the direction of the Riedersbach power plant. The police officers always carried out the night drive with a clear safety distance. At the power station he left the road, drove along the forest road to the ford and through the Riedersbach. Arrived on the other bank, the driver almost fell, so the officers managed to park the patrol car in front of the moped and thus stop the driver following more than six kilometers of driving.
Other volatile moped drivers turned themselves in
The 13-year-old driver announced his identity and was handed over to his father at the police station. The other two drivers turned themselves in following contacting the police by telephone. The two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, had meanwhile hidden the moped in a nearby wooded area. The three parties involved neither had the required driving license, as these are considered light motorcycles due to the conversions and their technical condition, nor did they have a valid license. In addition, the second moped driver very closely passed several pedestrians, who remained uninjured. The three participants from the Braunau district are reported several times.
