Ostapenko will meet with Jabeur in the 1/8 finals of the Madrid WTA 1000 tournament

The match will start at 12 o’clock on the central court.

Ostapenko is in tenth place in the WTA rankings and is seeded ninth in the tournament, while Jabeur is one position higher in the ranking and is number eight in the tournament.

The two tennis players have met on the court four times, and in the last match between them last year in the 1/8 finals of the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, the Tunisian prevailed in three sets.

The Latvian tennis player was free from the first round, in the second round match she beat the Spanish Jessica Buzas Maneiro (WTA 93) with a score of 6-3, 6-1, and in the third round she beat the Argentine Maria Lourdes Karl (WTA 82) with a score of 6-3, 6-3).

In the quarterfinals, the winner of the match will meet Cori Gauff (3rd place according to the WTA) or Madison Keys (20th place according to the WTA).

Ostapenko has won two titles this season and has an 18-7 win-loss record. Jabeur reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi, but could not get past the second round at the remaining tournaments.

Ostapenko also competes in doubles at this tournament, playing alongside Lyudmila Kichenok from Ukraine. The Latvian-Ukrainian duet has already reached the quarterfinals.

The tournament in Madrid takes place on clay courts.
