The game will start on court 16 no earlier than 15:00 Latvian time.
Ostapenko is ranked 14th in the WTA and is seeded 13th in the tournament, while Snigur, who made it through three qualifying rounds at Wimbledon, is ranked 130th in the world.
The two tennis players have not yet met on the court.
In the first round match, Ostapenko beat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (WTA 136), who received a special invitation from the organizers, with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Ostapenko is making her ninth Wimbledon appearance, with her best achievement being reaching the semi-finals in 2018. Last year, she failed to make it past the second round, losing to Romanian Sorana Cirsta in a battle that lasted more than two and a half hours.
This year, Snigur has played mostly in International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments, reaching the final three times and winning W-50 hard court tournaments in France and Georgia, but lost in the closed W-75 hard court tournament.
She also made it through three qualifying rounds at the Australian Open, losing in the first round of the main tournament, but reached the second round of qualifying at the French Open.
In the 1/16 finals, the winner will face the tournament’s 23rd seed Caroline Garcia (24 WTA) or American Bernarda Pera (97 WTA).
It has already been reported that Latvian tennis player Daria Semenistaya failed to qualify, losing in the first round.
Ostapenko will also play in the doubles at Wimbledon with her regular partner, Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine, facing Australia’s Daria Saville and China’s Yuan Yue in the first round. That game is also scheduled for Thursday.
The third Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Wimbledon Championships, will run until July 14.
