Oska (Austria), Schmyt (Germany), July Jones (Slovenia), Kids Return (France) and Queralt Lahoz (Spain) are the winners of the Music Moves Europe Awards 2023. The prestigious Grand Jury Prize went to Sans Soucis ( Italy) and the Public Choice Award to Jerry Heil (Ukraine).
The annual EU Prize for Popular and Contemporary Music (co-funded by the programme Creative Europe) honors emerging artists who represent the European sound of today and tomorrow. The award ceremony Music Moves Europe Awards took place on January 19th in Groningen (NL) as part of the ESNS-Showcase festivals and the conference. Previous award winners include Rosalía, Dua Lipa, Stromae, Hozier, Meskerem Mees, Blanks, Pale Waves and Christine and the Queens.

Financial support and Green Touring vouchers
Of the 15 nominees, the five winners will receive the Music Moves Europe Award 10,000 euros each. The winner of the Grand Jury Award receives 10,000 euros and a Green Touring voucher worth 5,000 euros. The winner of the Public Choice Award receives 5,000 euros and a Deezer-Session. All fifteen nominees were invited to a continuing education program to enhance their music business expertise for their future careers.
ESNS showcases and artist training
After the awards ceremony, all 15 nominees will join ESNS, the world’s largest showcase event for European music, in front of music professionals and fans. In addition to the 2023 nominees, the ESNS also the 2022 winners Blanks (NL), Francis of Delirium (LU) and Alina Pash (UA) occur. In addition, an educational and professionalization event was organized for the nominees of the MME Awards 2022 and 2023 and their representatives. Topics also include sustainability (e.g. how to organize a low-carbon exhibition or tour).
Jury Members
The jury of Music Moves Europe Awards 2023 consists of five people who have made a name for themselves in the music industry. Every year, the Public Choice winner of the previous year is included in the jury of the MME Awards appointed. This year, that spot is occupied by Jacqueline Baghdasaryan, singer of the Armenian group Ladaniva, which last year won the MME Public Choice Award won. The other judges are: Cindy Castillo (MadCool Festival), Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio), Bryan Johnson (Spotify) and Kevin Cole (KEXP).
