Oscars 2022: we know who will host the ceremony

After three editions without hosts, the 94e Oscars ceremony will be hosted by three American actresses, reveal our colleagues from BFMTV. The actresses selected by the Academy of Oscars are Regina Hall (seen in Scary Movie), Amy Schumer (star of the sketch series Inside Amy Schumer) and finally comedian and screenwriter Wanda Sykes. The three women will share the antenna for one hour per person.

In 2019, and for the first time in thirty years, the great cinematographic raout had no presenter. The person in charge of this task, the African-American actor and humorist Kevin Hart, had to withdraw following the exhumation of old homophobic tweets. Then, due to a lack of candidates, the next three editions took place without a host. According to the American media Deadlineformer wrestler, and now one of Hollywood’s most bankable actors, Dwayne Johnson was approached, but declined the Academy Award proposal.

Ungrateful job and plummeting audiences

It will therefore be up to Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall to host this prestigious ceremony. A thankless role, especially since the audiences have been in free fall for a few years. The 2021 edition, held at Union Station in Los Angeles instead of the iconic Dolby Theater, had only 10 million viewers. That is a drop of 56% compared to the previous edition, which already held the sad record for the lowest audience rate. The great favorite of this 94e edition is the film by Jane Campion The Power of the Dog with twelve nominations.
