Osama’s Shadow: Son of 9/11 Mastermind Forced Out of France

He is not allowed to return after posting comments on social media that were seen as glorifying terrorism. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced that he had signed an order banning Omar bin Laden from entering France. Bin Laden had already been deported before. Retailleau did not provide details about the timing of the deportation or the location to which bin Laden was deported.

“Mr Bin Laden, who has been living in the Orne region for several years as the husband of a British national, has published comments on social networks glorifying terrorism in 2023,” Retailleau said on X. “The ban ensures that Mr Bin Laden does not can return to France, for whatever reason.” Bin Laden could not immediately be reached for comment.

Posting for father’s birthday

According to the local weekly newspaper Le Publicateur Libre, bin Laden came to the attention of the French authorities through a social media post on his father’s birthday. Accordingly, the police were looking for bin Laden in the village of Domfort in Normandy, the newspaper reported in July 2023.

Osama bin Laden, originally from Saudi Arabia, was the main organizer of the September 11th terrorist attacks in the USA that left thousands dead. He was killed by a US task force in his hideout in Pakistan in 2011.
