Salalah: The Oman Zonal Conference of the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement was held at the Salalah Sens Stephen Church, under the leadership of the Youth Movement. President Fr Basil Thomas gave the welcome speech. Youth Movement Central President, Dr. Gevarghese Mar Iulios Metropolitan inaugurated and Fr Varghese Mathew, Parish Priest of Salalah St. Paul CSI conducted a class on the theme of ‘Pilgrims on Earth’.
He reminded that each one of us is a pilgrim on earth and our mission should be mutual love, mercy and care, the youth should be an example for the coming generation and there should be a healthy generation free from alcohol. Parish Trustee Sanu John and Secretary Binu Varghese offered greetings and in the business meeting held in the followingnoon Oman Zonal President Fr. Dennis Daniel presided and described the work of Sonnel. Zonal Coordinator Mathew Mezhuveli delivered the keynote address.
Oman Zone Bylaw Fr. Dennis Daniel presented at the meeting and accepted. Following the elections, the zone’s first working committee was established in Oman. The conference started at 9.30 in the morning and concluded at 4 in the evening with vote of thanks by the Unit Secretary Jinson John.
Parish Managing Committee Members, Youth Movement Vice President, AGP Thomas, Treasurer Subith Matthai, Joint Secretary Shibu Babu, Convenors in various committees, Saji Babuji, Joseph Varghese, George Daniel, Praveen K Philip, Gino Joy, Rito George, Deepu K Joy, Vipin John, Shaiju P George, Jijo K Mathew and Raj Babu chaired the conference. Movement members from Suhar, Niswa, Muscat and Gala participated. The 2024 Zonal Conference Gala will be hosted by St. Mary’s Orthodox Christian Youth Movement. The flag of the movement was also handed over to the Metropolitan movement officials.
