Orion flies over the Moon closely and begins its return to Earth

During the mission, Orion spent about six days in a remote orbit around the Moon. A week ago, this new spacecraft broke the distance record for a crewable capsule, venturing just over 432,000 km from our planet, farther than the Apollo missions.

Once it returns to Earth, Orion will have traveled about 2.25 million kilometers, said Mike Sarafin, director of the Artemis mission.
