The same day they ascended to first place in the AL East, the Orioles made their first move before the trade deadline, acquiring right-hander Shintaro Fujinami from the A’s.

Oakland received Triple-A left-hander Easton Lucas in the deal.

After spending 10 seasons in NPB, most with the Hanshin Tigers, Fujinami signed with the A’s last offseason and began the year as a starter. However, following seven starts he was moved to the bullpen.

The Orioles already have a solid back end of the bullpen, led by Yennier Cano and Felix Bautista.
