The golden age of Point’n Click is far behind us and it’s hard to imagine the genre ever making a comeback. However, there are still a few studios that do not hesitate to try it, with licenses that we thought had disappeared a long time ago. This is how Simon the Sorcerer: Origins came to us, following being forgotten for more than 10 years.

A return through the magic door
Simon the Sorcerer is one of those adventure game licenses that marked the players who were able to indulge in it during the 90s, but then fell into oblivion. While the series has five episodes to its credit, with the last one dating from 2009.
It must be said that apart from the first two episodes, filled with references to heroic fantasy, the last three opuses have not been outstanding. Adventure Soft, the original studio behind the first two games, is long gone, and the move to 3D with the third game didn’t convince everyone.
After a failed attempt in 2014 to relaunch the series with a participatory campaign, it is therefore with great surprise that we can welcome the announcement of Simon the Sorcerer: Origins. The title is developed by the Italian studio Smallthing Studios and should take inspiration from the first two, keeping the spirit of the series, but with a more modern approach.
We do not know much at the moment, except that it is a question of discovering the fate of Simon the Sorcerer, a few weeks before the events of the first game of 1993, which brought our young wizard to a parallel world filled with of monsters and magic.
No release date has yet been announced, but Simon the Sorcerer: Origins is scheduled for PC, Mac, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
