A new horror series is revived.
Belated sequels to once successful films that have achieved cult status have been enjoying great popularity for several years. In addition to more classic sequences such as “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Twisters”, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” or currently “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, there are also films that start directly after the original part, such as “Alien: Romulus” did, or even after the first part, but ignore all subsequent parts. The most popular example here is probably “Halloween” or “The Exorcist: Confession”. So-called legacy sequels are also extremely popular. They focus on completely new characters, but the plot of the predecessor is continued in the classic way and old stars of the series also appear. This serves a new audience as well as fans of the originals. Successful examples include “Blade Runner 2049”, “Ghostbusters: Legacy”, “Scream 5”, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Creed”. Now the cult horror of the 90s is joining the ranks of I know what you did last summeranother title added to the latter category.
Because after Amazon was not particularly successful with a separate series adaptation in 2021, another movie was launched in 2023, which, in addition to new actors in the center, was also supposed to bring back stars from the first two parts. Now one of these stars has been officially confirmed. Freddie Prinze Jr. appear again as Ray Bronson. Negotiations with the former leading actress Jennifer Love Hewitt are probably still running.
Details about the content have not yet been revealed, so it is also unclear how large the roles of Prince Jr. and the possibly returning Love Hewitt will fail.
Other confirmed cast members are Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur – Kingall of whom are new to the franchise.
The director is responsible Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Do Revenge”).
