Spain’s La Liga footballers have a real problem, with organized crime gangs setting their sights on the most prominent, the latest example being the violent robbery of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s house in Barcelona yesterday (Monday).
Two weeks ago, the home of Valencia striker Samo Castillejo was burgled, but he was lucky that he wasn’t there when the attackers entered, and the police never think it’s a coincidence.
This situation is not new. Real Madrid and Barcelona players have suffered similar incidents on more than one occasion, as Casemiro had his house burgled while his wife and daughter were inside during the derby match in 2019.
Something similar happened to Lucas Vazquez when he was with his family on vacation, and coach Zinedine Zidane and player Isco faced the same problem while they were at Real Madrid.
The most recent case was the complaint of Mina Bonino, Fede Valverde’s partner, during her vacation in Ibiza, where there was a robbery in her summer house of ten thousand euros.
Many Barcelona players have also been attacked by organized gangs in their homes, the most famous case being that of Gerard Pique in 2018. When the player joined the national team and his former partner Shakira was on a technical tour, thieves broke into his house and took many valuables.
Meanwhile, another robbery took place in Jordi Alba’s house with the player’s family inside the house, as thieves broke into the first floor without his wife and children knowing regarding it.
Many clubs have given their players instructions to try to avoid this type of attack, asking them to reinforce security during matches or training camps and to avoid attracting too much attention.
