The cooperation with Socar contradicts the strategy of Migros in several points, said SP Switzerland, the Green Foundation of Switzerland and, among others, the NGOs Attac Switzerland, Society Switzerland-Armenia and the Society for Threatened Peoples and the GSoA.
The Migros Group is the first reference for social commitment in Switzerland. She stands for responsibility. And her raison d’être is to work hard every day to improve people’s quality of life.
In contrast, the business activities of Socar favor and finance one of the most repressive and corrupt regimes in the world, the appeal continues. Socar is fully state-owned and run by Azerbaijan’s autocrat Ilham Aliyev (60).
The signatories to the appeal consider Socar’s cooperation with the Migros retail group to be an inextricable contradiction to Migros’ strategy, code of conduct and mission statement. They urge Migros to end this cooperation. (SDA)
