The ruling junta intends to do without an Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to organize the next elections which should lead to a return to constitutional order.

Minister Mory Condé maintains that Guinea should not make the exception to the rule by continuing to have elections organized by the CENI. “At the level of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, there is the National Directorate of Political Affairs and Electoral Administrations. I don’t know what you call election management body. In this country we must avoid taking the exception as the rule. I mean CENI here and there, it is the exception which was created because at a given moment, political actors who had the governance of the country did not reassure the other political actors opposite” , he explained in the Mirador show on FIM FM, October 27, 2023.

As part of the refoundation announced on September 5, 2023, it is the MATD which organizes the entire electoral process. “In other countries, there is actually a structure created around this direction where political actors sit to look at what is happening on a day-to-day basis, make recommendations, even challenge certain things and bring regarding corrections. Our country will be no exception. The same process will be carried out in Guinea in the most transparent way,” underlined Minister Mory Condé.

This intention of the junta led by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, if it is acted upon, risks provoking the anger of socio-political actors in particular the Forces Vives who accuse the CNRD of wanting to confiscate power.
