The General Congress began the Second Ordinary Period of Sessions and the protocol to honor the flag opened the first confrontation in Saint Lazarus.
During the opening of the second period of sessionsof the second year of exercise of the 65th Legislaturethe president of the Chamber of Deputies, Santiago Creelwent out to the front of the venue to pay homage to the flag, but the Morena bench was upset because they assured that they had to be done in plenary session.
Santiago Creel explained that this was determined because the military escort was armed.
“We did the honors of the flag outside because the members of the escort are armed, and they cannot enter this plenary session armed, that is why we agreed that it should be so,” declared the deputy of the PAN.
Despite this, already in plenary session, the bench of Morena began to sing the national anthem and shouted “disrespectful” to the president of San Lázaro.
“I understand the circumstance in which it was agreed; however, as president I cannot allow weapons in this room, which is a sovereignty, which is the Congress of the Union to which I owe myself,” insisted Creel, who thus formally declared the period open .
“The second ordinary period of sessions that will conclude on April 30 of this year opens,” he said.
Subsequently, the war band formally sang the national anthem, while Santiago Creel indicated that he would go out once more to the frontispiece to bid farewell to the flag.
Given this circumstance, the Morena legislators once more attacked Creel, who was yelled at “stateless”, while the PAN members responded: “Shut up chachalacas”.
