Official sponsor and exclusive global telecommunications partner since 2008
Orange has been the sponsor and exclusive telecommunications partner of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since 2008. Today, this long-standing partnership with CAF has been renewed, reinforcing a shared commitment to the development of football, diversity and inclusion in Africa.
This partnership will include, among others, three of the most anticipated tournaments in Africa:
- The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (Ivory Coast) which will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, and will see 24 African teams compete, including 11 qualified Orange countries. Orange is also the technology and telecommunications supplier to COCAN/CAF.
- TotalEnergies African Women’s Cup of Nations 2024 (Morocco)
- TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 (Morocco)
A partnership focused on connectivity, diversity and inclusion
Orange Group’s sponsorship strategy leverages the power of sport to connect customers and fans across Africa and the Middle East, building on three key pillars:
Coeducation – a commitment to ensuring balanced representation of women’s and men’s sports in Orange’s sponsorship portfolio, promoting equal access and opportunity. This commitment builds on our active partnership with the African Women’s Football Cup and on specific programs since 2018.
Inclusion – by leveraging its network of Orange Digital Centers, Orange is committed to involving, educating and connecting young people. Thanks to this partnership with CAF, Orange will develop dedicated programs to help young players train and develop their digital skills.
For example, Orange will teach young people to code using football-related content and challenges to inspire them. Whether it’s simple soccer games or tournament stats, we can use the sport they love to inspire them to code while developing valuable digital skills.
Orange All Connected – a commitment to always being alongside its customers so that they benefit from continuity of service and seamless connectivity to enjoy, share and participate in the sport they love.
Jérôme Hénique, CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa, comments: “Orange is a loyal and long-term partner of football in Africa and the Middle East. Our commitment to African football dates back over 20 years, and we are proud to host over 40 football partnerships in countries across the region, including national teams as well as numerous youth, academy and universities in several countries. We are excited to continue this important work with CAF to co-create and drive real change through shared goals.”
Caroline Guillaumin, Executive Vice President of Communications at Orange, concludes: “Football partnerships represent more than 85% of local sponsorship investments in Africa and the Middle East. We invest in football at all levels because we fundamentally believe in the power of sport for inclusion as many people as possible. With CAF, we have a real opportunity to promote diversity, inclusion, and skills development by combining digital transformation with the passions of our customers and fans.”
CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepesaid: “Orange has been a great supporter and partner of African football for many years. We are delighted to continue working with Orange to make African football one of the best in the world and self-sustaining. The TotalEnergies Africa Nations in Ivory Coast is expected to be watched by more than 880 million people and we are delighted that Orange is our partner for this competition and the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Our partnership with Orange will also contribute to the development and growth of women’s football on the African continent.”
