Orange Pi Zero 2W: alternative to Raspberry Pi costs less and offers more

Already present on the market for a few years, the Raspberry Pi is known for opening doors to diverse implementations through a small board that already has a basic initial setup ready, which includes a processor, RAM and more, ranging from computers to applications such as assembly focused on retro games, robotics and more.

Aiming at this market and seeking to gain space at a time when Raspberry is seeking to increase availability, we have the emergence of the Orange Pi Zero 2W, a setup that can be found with prices around R$ 70 (approximate converted value), competing with the eponymous Raspberry Pi Zero 2W.

The main highlight when comparing the versions sold by Raspberry and Orange is the offer of some improvements that include a platform with a higher clock speed (1 GHz vs 1.5 GHz), a greater amount of RAM in the initial setup (512 MB vs 1 GB) and connectivity improvements in Bluetooth (4.2 BLE vs 5.0 BLE) and Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz).

Despite these improvements, the Orange Pi Zero 2W still manages to be cheaper, charging US$12.90 in the original setup versus the official US$15 promised by Raspberry.

According to the Orange Pi website, the model in question supports the main operating systems that include Android 12 TV, Debian11, Debian12, Ubuntu22.04, Ubuntu20.04, Orange Pi OS (Arch) and more.

No less important, Orange Pi’s promise is to deliver good support to its users, which includes complete materials and professional technical support (including through Telegram, Facebook, Discord, Reddit and its own forum), which tends to facilitate use as an alternative solution to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W.
