Orange ends a difficult 2021 financial year on a note of optimism

Stéphane Richard can breathe. “The year 2021 was a solid year, with an overall performance perfectly in line with what we had announced to the markets”, welcomed the CEO of Orange Thursday morning. After twelve years of reign, the boss will hand over the reins on April 4 to Christel Heydemann. And, if 2021 has not been easy, the operator has met its objectives and promises a bright future, in terms of profitability in particular.

It was not won. The past year was weighed down by the catastrophic situation in the Spanish market, where fierce competition between a multitude of operators resulted in lower revenues and margins in Orange’s second largest market following France.
