“Less significant trauma”

“While surgery had progressed a lot, we noticed that we were lacking in therapeutic education. Patients lacked information on the intervention itself, on the possibility of preparing with physiotherapy sessions, on the wearing of the urinary catheter or even on the return home. When we prepare all of this, the trauma is less significant. The Covid-19 crisis and then the lack of staff stopped this dynamic which had made it possible to support nearly 700 patients. Since July 2023, a digital tool has taken over. An application provides information on the recommended diet, showering and hair removal before surgery, help with smoking cessation, physical activities such as core training and endurance to recover more quickly following the procedure or even on the management of the probe urinary.

Better bladder control

“More than 60 patients have been supported thanks to this application and we can clearly see the difference. I noticed fewer complications, fewer calls to the emergency room, and earlier recovery of urinary function. During the post-operative consultation (a month and a half later), we went from 70% to 90% of patients able to control their bladder. We are collecting a lot of useful data to improve our practices”, concludes Dr Guillaume Ploussard.
