However, it is not enough to have a healthy diet and exercise: it is also key to maintain adequate levels of vitamin D. A study by the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in Brazil and the University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom United Kingdom showed that vitamin D supplements reduce the risk of dynapenia in older people by 78%.

For their part, along the same lines, specialists from Harvard University highlighted this study and stressed the importance of maintaining ideal levels of vitamin D to preserve muscle.

To keep your muscles in shape, you should follow a healthy diet with enough protein, do strength exercise to increase muscle mass, and maintain adequate levels of vitamin D. This new study shows that diet and exercise alone are not enough.
