In the office, “there is no bad position. The right position is the one that moves. You have to move as much as possible both at work and outside,” says Anne-Sophie Mazzichi, physiotherapist in Differdange and graduate of the École du dos Mail 14 method.
Even if you work seated all day, it is possible to be active. “You have to vary your positions, find five or six ways to sit and change regularly. You can cross your legs, but not always the same one and not hold this position for more than 30 minutes,” she explains.
300 minutes of moderate sport per week
To move more, the physiotherapist invites you to install the printer further from your desk, sometimes to work standing up. She reminds us that we should do 300 minutes of moderate sport per week. “Sport reduces cardiovascular pathologies, anxiety and improves sleep, as long as we do a sport that we enjoy.”
The practitioner also recommends a little “wasted time” gymnastics, stopped at a red light, during your break at work. This can consist of bringing one shoulder closer to the ear then the other, walking seated, touching the ankle with the hand on the opposite side, to relieve the back.
When she noticed that she was repeating the same thing to her patients, the physiotherapist decided to focus on prevention by offering group back school classes twice a week. With straps and balloons, the participants perform certain gestures, rhythmically. “Rhythm is important. The exercises help patients to no longer think regarding their pathology.
