The opposition grouped in the Democratic Unity Table in the state of Barinas, the birthplace of Hugo Chávez, on Sunday urged the members of the Armed Forces deployed for the elections to respect the electoral rules and guarantee the closing of the tables at the 06:00 pm, unless there are voters in line.

“The call to this Armed Forces distinguished as Plan República is to remember that today at 06:00 in the followingnoon we must close the voting centers, while there are no voters in line.” This was said by former deputy María Gabriela Hernández, during a press conference of the opposition group that supports candidate Sergio Garrido.

The former legislator explained that, despite the “abuses of power” that, she said, have been detected during the electoral process, this Sunday the members of the Plan República have shown “respect” for the rules issued by the entity that governs the elections.

“There will be some exceptions, but the rule has been the respect of the Plan República to the regulations and when we have presented complaints or irregularities that are being committed within the centers, they have solved them,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, the opposition group assured that, following 12 noon, more than 40% of the voters registered in the census in the Llanera region had already voted. However, this data was not confirmed by the National Electoral Council.

If the data is verified, according to the MUD, the number of registered participants in the elections on November 21 at the same time would double.

The results of said elections were annulled in that state by the Supreme Court of Justice, which ordered the repetition of the vote, following the opponent was the winner -by a narrow margin- Freddy Superlano.

The decision was made following the Supreme Court detected, according to what it said at the time, that Superlano appeared despite being disabled.

The candidates who now aspire to govern Barinas and who have options are the former foreign minister and former minister of Hugo Chávez, Jorge Arreaza, on the part of the ruling party, and the opponents Sergio Garrido, for the Democratic Unity Table, and Claudio Fermín, considered a dissident of the majority anti-Chavez movement.
