NEW DELHI > Opposition parties and religious-communal organizations have slammed the Modi government’s single-civil code move aimed at gaining gains in the Lok Sabha polls through communal polarization. The Muslim Personal Law Board responded that it would strongly oppose the Single Civil Code move. Opposition parties like Left parties, Congress and DMK also came forward once morest the unilateral move of the central government. Tribal organizations in Meghalaya and Jharkhand had already announced that they would resist the move. The Muslim Personal Law Board held an emergency meeting in Bhopal on Tuesday following Modi stated that the country needs a single civil code. A draft to be submitted to the Law Commission has been prepared in opposition to the Single Civil Code move. Board member Maulana Khalid Rasheed Rahmani said that he will oppose the Uniform Civil Code more strongly before the Law Commission.
