At the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya Ram Temple (Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar CM Lalu Yadav declined the invitation to attend the ceremony. With this, he became the latest opposition leader to decline an invitation to the function to be held on January 22. In the morning, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar also announced that he would not attend the function. But he also informed that he will visit the temple later.

Pawar said in a letter to Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Temple Champat Rai, general secretary, that he will take time to visit following completing the consecration ceremony on January 22. Earlier, Pawar had criticized the BJP for not getting an invitation to the function. He said it is difficult to understand whether the party is using the issue for religious or political purposes.

“It is not known whether BJP is using the issue for political or commercial purposes. We are happy that the temple, which has been donated by many people, is coming up,’ said Pawar.
