The Reno 7 sealed OPPO’s debut in Brazil, with the promise of being a good intermediary option in the national retail market. But to establish itself in the market, it needs to overcome realme 9, a rival that seeks to deliver a series of differentials for the segment.

design and connectivity
OPPO Reno7
We started with the design with two cell phones made entirely of plastic, either on the sides or on the back. Manufacturers decided to leave a matte finish on the lid, to give a more premium look to their respective models. Apart from the camera block that highlights the two main sensors, something adopted by both brands.
OPPO has the Orbital Light differential, an LED ring around the secondary lens to inform you regarding notifications as it is lit. The Reno 7 also has the thinnest and lightest body of the duo, not to mention the presence of IPx4 certification, to guarantee protection once morest splashes.
realm 9
At the front is where we find the fingerprint reader, positioned under the screen and in optical format. The duo’s notch has the hole-in-the-display layout, positioned in the left corner.
Both offer storage expansion via the dedicated microSD card slot. In terms of connectivity, both offer 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1, but do not have NFC, that is, no contactless payments on them.
Due to its more resistant, compact and light design, the Reno opens the scoring in this confrontation.

Bodies
OPPO has put an OLED screen on its smartphone, while realme has opted for Super AMOLED. Both have Full HD + resolution and a size that is in the range of 6.4 inches, with a small advantage in front use for the Reno 7.
In terms of brightness, the realme 9 material reaches a higher level and is the best option for use in sunnier places. At least, they don’t lack Gorilla Glass 5 to protect once morest scratches.
Both one and the other come with a display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. This means that good fluidity is guaranteed in the system’s animations and in compatible games.
Realme’s brightest display gives it the point.

As
The manufacturers decided to save on the audio part and put a mono system only in their respective intermediaries. In other words, we have a more limited immersion when listening to music or watching movies.
Even due to the lack of a second speaker, the sound power is also limited and is nothing but decent in them. In terms of quality, Reno 7 has more balance between bass, mids and highs than realme 9.
Good thing these two contain a physical headphone jack, but none of the accessories come free of charge in the package.
OPPO takes the point for the most balanced sound.

System
These devices come out of the box equipped with Android 12 from the factory. The user should receive some versions of the software, but still far from rivals Samsung and Apple, for example.
Both ColorOS 12.1 and Realme UI 3.0 deliver satisfactory fluidity, even more so with the 90 Hz display that cell phones have. 5G support is missing here, which leaves their mobile network limited to the fourth generation.
In resources, we have good items in each of them. The Reno 7 comes with a series of customization options and a game manager, in addition to the possibility of using the LED on the back to know regarding notifications or missed calls. Realme 9, on the other hand, stands out for its heart rate sensor in the biometric reader or for the shortcuts next to the reader. The duo delivers a menu with quick access to various apps, whether it’s OPPO’s floating or realme’s side.
With a balance of advantages in this regard, we give a draw.

Performance
The duo comes equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 mobile platform. The difference is that Reno 7 comes with 6 GB of RAM, and realme 9 has 8 GB. In this clash, we saw that memory has an impact on the final result. Despite the fact that running apps is not so far away, realme is much faster to reopen in the background.
In benchmarks, realme also has a small advantage, but the numbers are not so far from each other, both in Geekbench and AnTuTu. Moving on to games, we have a satisfactory performance in them, but the 90 fps is only used by lighter titles.
realme 9 scores the point for faster multitasking performance.

The Reno 7 has a 4,500 mAh battery, below the 5,000 mAh capacity present in the realme competitor. Does this impact autonomy? Our standardized tests showed that yes, with a three-hour advantage for realme 9, which went from 32 hours in duration.
When charging, manufacturers send a 33 W adapter along with their respective devices. Due to the lower capacity, the OPPO model takes just over an hour to reach 100%, 16 minutes less in the socket than the rival.
Greater autonomy on one side; shorter reload time than the other. We give one point for each.

We find both a triple set of rear cameras. The main 64 MP of Reno 7 gets the colors right, but still has a little noise. Unlike the more advanced 108 MP sensor in realme 9, which takes sharper pictures even at night. At the very least, both offer a wide dynamic range.
The blurring lens used by OPPO does a good job, but it doesn’t look much different from what we find in portrait mode only by realme software. The Reno even has a microscopic camera to see the details up close, although you need to be patient to get the focus right. Scenario not very different from what we have with the realme 9 macro.
Speaking of this, only it comes with an ultrawide sensor. This option captures more of the scenery and with colors close to those of the main camera, without losing so much sharpness.
With higher quality and a wider lens, the point goes to realme 9.

Photos taken with the OPPO Reno 7
Their camcorder records at maximum Full HD resolution limited to 30 fps. The image quality pleases them, despite having some changes in the colors of the videos in relation to the photos. The duo also provides electronic stabilization to handle shake well, snappy focus and good clarity stereo audio capture.
With no major differences between them, we have yet another draw here.

Photos taken with realme 9
Their front camera records good selfies during the day, despite the far from perfect portrait mode. At least the bottom won’t get blown out in any situation. In night scenarios, the advantage is for realme 9, which suffers less from noise than the competitor. When shooting from the front, both are nothing more than Full HD at 30 fps.
With a better overall performance, realme 9 scores once more.

Both OPPO and realme have officially brought these devices to the Brazilian market. They were launched for the same suggested price of R$ 3,000 on national soil. In current retail, Reno 7 remains unchanged in value, while the rival is already found at half the initial cost.
Therefore, realme 9 gets the last point of the duel.

Done
In this clash between the two Chinese intermediaries, realme won. realme 9 has the brightest screen, the fastest performance and the set of cameras with better rear and front photos as its main highlights.
It also delivers the battery with superior autonomy, despite taking longer to recharge. On the other hand, the Reno 7 stands out for its more compact design and resistance to splashing water, in addition to presenting the most balanced sound of the duo.
OPPO still balances the game in system resources and video quality, but realme ends up delivering more at a much lower cost in the current market, which makes it the owner of the most suitable cell phone of the duo.
