OPPO announced, this Wednesday (27), the launch of the A18, its new basic cell phone that is positioned at the lower end of the “A” line. Debuting shortly after the OPPO A38, the model features simpler hardware with small highlights to compete directly with the Galaxy A05, recently presented by Samsung.
With a look already familiar to those who followed the launch of the OPPO A38, the new cell phone is equipped with a 6.56-inch screen with IPS LCD technology, HD+ resolution (1,612 x 720 pixels), peak brightness of 720 nits and rate refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. The display has a teardrop-shaped notch that houses a 5 MP front camera.
At the rear, there is a double set represented by the main camera with an 8 MP sensor, autofocus, four-element lens system and f/2.0 aperture. The model also has a monochrome sensor to help with night or high-contrast scenes. The primary camera is capable of recording videos at up to Full HD @ 30 FPS.
The OPPO A18 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 platform, produced with 12 nanometer lithography, which has an 8-core CPU running at up to 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. There is only one memory option that combines 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM with 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage.

To power this hardware, there is a 5,000 mAh battery whose supported recharge power is not stated. Other specifications include a fingerprint reader on the side, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3 and a headphone jack (P2). The phone will come out of the box running Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1.

Price and availability
The OPPO A18 has not yet had its price announced, but its profile is now available on the brand’s official website in the United Arab Emirates. It is possible, however, that the cell phone will be launched in other countries in Asia and Europe. There are two color options: black and blue. It is worth remembering that the OPPO A17, its predecessor, arrived on the market with a price of approximately R$680.
