Oppenheimer vs. Barbie: The Battle for the Big Screen Triumph

Who will win the battle between ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’? While the public has already chosen a side, Cillian Murphy believes that rivalry does not exist, since the cinema will end up triumphing no matter what, but this is his recommendation for others.

The official countdown to the premieres of Oppenheimer and Barbie begins today! We are only 10 days away from both films reaching the big screen in all movie theaters in Mexico and the hype around these two releases on the same day continues to grow and has even reached the high levels of Hollywood, since the very same Tom Cruise showed off his tickets to said movies and shared the order in which he would watch them.

Since it was announced that both the production starring Margot Robbie and the one led by Cillian Murphy would have their world premiere on the same date, all moviegoers and viewers began a fierce rivalry between the two films and divided into two camps: team Oppenheimer and team Barbie. While some say that the live-action of the Mattel doll will win the contest, others believe that they should not be so confident of the triumph, since the biopic of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer promises as much as the other.

While the Mission Impossible 7 star revealed that he would see the Christopher Nolan film first and then go see the Greta Gerwig play the day following, Murphy thinks slightly differently. The cast of the twelfth film by the British filmmaker has stayed away from the spotlight until a few days ago, when they began to promote their project with the media. It was there that the Irish actor was finally questioned regarding the battle between his film and his rival, and he replied that he is just as excited as everyone else to see both films one following the other.

“I urgently need to see Barbie. I love Margot Robbie and I love Ryan Gosling, I want to see them now!” The also actor of The Origin and Batman Begins revealed that he does not understand why there is so much discussion around the subject, you just have to see both and that’s it. “My advice to people would be to go see both on the same day. If they’re good movies, then that’s what he actually earns at the movies.” So no matter the order, just seeing both on the biggest screen possible is enough.

As Cruise has been declaring during his fight to release Top Gun: Maverick in theaters and bring viewers back to theaters, for Murphy it’s the same; as long as people go to see movies on the big screen and what is projected on them is of quality, then everyone wins. But it seems that while some did take sides between productions, many viewers decided in advance that they would see both on the same day, regardless of the order in which they watch them.

So you already know; the best order is the one you choose, as long as you go to the movies to do it. We’re still waiting for tickets to go on sale for Oppenheimer, but don’t forget that Barbie pre-sale is already active. The big day will be next Thursday, July 20, and we can’t wait any longer to see them, as it is said that Nolan’s film mixes various genres for a magnanimous and disturbing story, while Gerwig’s film raised the spirits once once more following their first reactions.
