French publisher Microids has announced the development of a reboot of the cult franchise “Operation Wolf”.
If we often tend to remember Time Crisis or The House of the Dead when we talk regarding “rail shooters”, another cult series marked many minds in its infancy. Operation Wolf, by Taito, remains indeed a monument of the genre. The French publisher Microids has decided to give the franchise a little freshness with a reboot called Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission.
The title is developed by a small French studio, Virtuallyz Gaming, which has chosen to take up everything that made the success of the original formula while bringing a radical change to its artistic direction. This new installment will have a cartoonish look, which will certainly not appeal to fans of the series, but may allow the publisher to target a new audience…
The publisher promises a varied arsenal, a campaign mode playable alone or in pairs, a survival mode and leaderboards.
The title will be released in boxes and in digital version in the fall of 2022. It will be available on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, PC and… in virtual reality, on the Meta Quest 2 headset.
