Operation TURC: organization that produced “VIP” marijuana destined for criminal factions is dismantled

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Within the framework of Operation “Turc”, five people were arrested and four vehicles were seized, including cars and trucks; bags with chopped marijuana and seeds, cell phones, bullets and other evidence, with the aim of dismantling a major scheme of marijuana production and trafficking destined for criminal factions in Brazil.

It was during 8 simultaneous raids carried out in homes and rural establishments located in Aguerito, San Pedro department and in Karapã’i, Amambay, by members of the Intelligence Directorate of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The five detainees are believed to be part of the first ring of the criminal structure and were identified as Aníbal Obregón Chena, 36 years old, who together with his brother, Ismael Obregón, who is a fugitive, are believed to be the leaders; as well as César Javier Flor Villamayor, 36 years old; Héctor José Ramírez Morínigo, 37 years old; Jefferson Alexande De Oliveira, Brazilian, 44 years old and Lidia Armoa, of Paraguayan nationality.

This structure was dedicated to the diversified production of cannabis, which is classified as Skunk type, which is a hybrid strain between sativa and indica; AK47, a hybrid strain with a lower percentage of indica and a predominance of sativa; Moroccan, a highly concentrated marijuana resin; Harry Potter, a strain resulting from the combination of varieties originating in California and the Conventional, produced in Paraguayan forests on a massive scale, but with a lower concentration of THC.

The organization even had facilities for “indoor” production of the drug, with a THC percentage of around 30%, much higher than the average of 5 to 10% of conventional marijuana produced in the mountains of our country.

“Indoor” complex in Aguerito

The intervention in the Aguerito district led to the detection of a complex for the production of high-quality marijuana, known as “Harry Potter” and AK47, among others. There were also 3 and a half hectares of marijuana crops at the site, which had a lighting system, automatic irrigation, a heating system, greenhouses, drying centres and a pressing camp equipped with presses, forage harvesters, generators and other elements.

“Premium” Products

The products produced there were destined for select consumer markets in Brazil. Their costs range from 1 to 4 million guaraníes per kilogram in the country, and once placed on the Brazilian market they are sold at more than 30 million guaraníes per kilogram.

The raids are also aimed at capturing the main leaders and collaborators of the structure in question.

Brazilian criminal groups are seeking to diversify their marijuana supply, and criminal organizations based in our territory are operating accordingly, Senad reported.
