Operation Jaque: New Details and Commemoration of the Meticulously Planned Military Action

It has been 15 years since the country learned regarding the famous ‘Operation Jaque’, an unprecedented military action of which new details are now known, according to information revealed by the Military Forces, we tell you the new information regarding it.

What was Operation Jaque?

Operation Jaque has been recognized by the national and international community for its meticulous planning and impeccable execution, which guaranteed the integrity and protection of the lives of all the participants and rescuers. This was developed by military intelligence, through deception, strategically planned, managing to infiltrate and convince the members of the extinct FARC of the need to transfer the kidnapped to take them before the new commander of that guerrilla, within the framework of a humanitarian exchange.

This action made it possible to gather the kidnapped in one place, in order for them to board the helicopter and take them to freedom. The operation lasted 22 minutes and takes its name in honor of the first letter of the month in which it was carried out (July) and the “check” move in chess. The act of military intelligence was carried out following the development of other operations that made it possible to deal important blows to terrorism.

Men from the Army’s intelligence weapon turned this military action into one of the biggest reasons to “bring out their chests” in the institution, since it was carried out without firing a single shot.

New details of Operation Jaque

In the last few hours, remembering Operation Jaque, the Military Forces revealed a new detail that surprises the public. Apparently a mosquito attack was regarding to stop everything.

This attack occurred hours before carrying out the start of the last stage of Operation Jaque, the most crucial. And it is that the Military Forces explained that “the crew suffered a severe attack of mosquitoes during the last night that caused an allergic reaction.”

For this reason, the operation was almost halted by this small detail. Finally, this allergic reaction “had to be quickly counteracted with medication so as not to be discovered by the custodians of the hostages.”

The National Army is hosting an academic event at the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School, where the impact that this operation has had at a national and international level in the political-economic, academic, creative and image spheres will be addressed, and from the military perspective and human rights in the world.

Operation Jaque will live forever in the historical memory of the Colombian people and the world, and this was confirmed by former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancour last year, pointing out that “this operation is the most successful and has gone around the world, the Armies of other countries study it as an example of an extraordinary and perfect operation, which gave us back our freedom, our lives, our family and allowed the country to be crowned through a Peace Agreement, which today gives us hope for peace general for Colombia.
