Operation Iguana – Court postpones coercion measure in “Operation Iguana” until Wednesday

The Investigating Court of the Judicial District of Independencia postponed until next Wednesday the hearing of the coercive measure for those involved in the alleged network of human trafficking, dismantled with the call “Operation Iguana”.

The court made the decision by accepting the motion of the defendant’s defense that claims to ignore the file. The Public Ministry did not oppose the request of the accused.

Those involved in the case are Roberto Mendez Perezcoordinator of control at the border post in Jimaní of the General Directorate of Migration and the inspector Johan Rosario Castillo. As well Keliton Eduardo Vólquez Guzmán, Delson Manuel Medina Díaz, Dominga Guzmán, and Deivi Nova Reyes.

In the dismantling of the network, raids were carried out in Jimaní, Independence; Bahoruco, Neiba, and Pedernales, where they seized vehicles, more than 100 passports of foreign citizens and other items.
