Opera GX adds new features to its browser’s AI

Opera GX, the browser for gamers, has released a significant update to Aria, the browser’s built-in AI. This update brings users the latest AI features that Opera has been releasing as part of its experimental AI Feature Drops program, in the Opera One browser development stream.

The features coming to Opera GX extend Aria’s capabilities by equipping it with image generation and understanding, voice output, an option to summarize conversations, and links to your sources.

This new update puts a special emphasis on visuals thanks to image generation. With its new version, Aria receives the ability to convert instructions and descriptions into unique images, using Google’s image generation model.

Aria identifies user intent to generate an image based on conversational prompts. Aria can also use the “regenerate” option to have Aria generate a new image. Aria can generate up to 30 images per day per user.

Along with this, AI receives the ability to read responses in audible voice, using the model Google WaveNetThis will benefit those who frequently use screen readers, those who like to multitask, or those who need to hear information rather than read it.

Opera GX will now provide image information

Internet users search for information about something they saw as often as they do about things they read or heard. That’s why Aria is also getting the ability to understand images. This means users can now upload an image to Aria to ask the AI tool about it, as part of the conversation.

For example, if an image shows an unfamiliar pair of headphones, Aria will identify the brand and model and provide some context. A user can also take a photo of a math problem and then ask Aria how to solve it.

Last but not least, this update improves the chat experience with Aria thanks to two new features: “Chat Summary” and “Source Links”.

The first feature provides users with a very concise summary of an entire conversation with Aria, allowing them to review the most important information. In the second feature, Aria provides the user with links to sources on the topic of conversation, allowing them to gain more context on the query.

Opera GX has also received a redesigned Command Line for Aria, which can be easily activated by users by pressing the “ctrl + /” or “cmd + /” button combination. This allows the user to open an additional floating window, instead of using Aria from the Extensions page.
