Senegalese President Macky Sall kicked off, Thursday in Dakar, the work of the 10th international conference of major French-speaking chancelleries south of the Sahara.

Around twenty member countries, observers and guests are taking part, according to the organisers, in the meeting which is being held over two days on the theme “The sanction of merit and Excellence, the role of the great chancelleries”.

“By putting your exemplary professional experience at the service of collective reflection under the sanction of merit and excellence, you are choosing to better serve our common space, the Francophonie, and its values ​​of solidarity and commitment”, indicated President Sall in his opening address.

“Your session will contribute to improving our national distinction systems and the quality of their human resources over the long term for a better choice of future candidates for decorations”, he continued, pledging to build a new functional and dignified headquarters. of the Grand Chancellery.

“The theme of this important meeting imposes itself on us, great chancelleries, in a relevant way and requires immediate and concerted solutions”, explained Meissa Niang who heads the great chancellery of the National Order of the Lion of Senegal.

His country will take over the presidency of the international conference of major French-speaking chancelleries at the end of this edition.

“The holding of the Brazzaville meeting allowed the adoption of the charter of the international conference of the Grandes Chancelleries francophones, which must henceforth govern our space”, insisted Norbert Okiokoutina, Grand Chancellor of the National Orders of Congo and outgoing President of the Conference.

The mission of the great chancelleries of French-speaking Africa and France is to energize the institutions of the member countries through the promotion of excellence and the values ​​of merit, work, integrity and peace.

The conference is held every two years in a member country (the Dakar edition which was to be held in 2021 had been postponed due to the health crisis).

The 1st conference was held in 2003 in Burkina Faso. The next will be held in 2023 in Guinea Conakry, a country which will have to choose the theme of the meeting.
