Opening of a commission of inquiry to “control” the vaccination pass

As Gérard Larcher had suggested yesterday, the conference of Senate presidents resulted in the opening of a parliamentary commission of inquiry which aims to examine ” the adequacy of the vaccination pass to the evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic “. It is the Commission for Social Affairs which will be in charge of this mission. Some will say that it is yet another measure taken out of time, others that it is a welcome safeguard. Be that as it may, the Constitutional Council decides tomorrow on the vaccination pass, and Bruno Retailleau assures: “ We don’t want this instrument to last permanently ».

Conclusions before the presidential election?

To respond to the urgency, of the epidemic as of the electoral calendar, the senators ensure that the conclusions of the commission will be made before the presidential election. Catherine Deroche, LR president of the Social Affairs Commission, explained to Public Senate having thought of “ a restricted schedule “and intends to launch the auditions” very soon, starting next week ».

Regarding these auditions, she willingly shares the program: “ We will hear from the Institut Pasteur, the DREES (department of research, studies, evaluation and statistics), the General Directorate of Health, Public Health France. We will have to see how it goes in hospitals. Then we will end with the hearing of the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, whom we plan to audition before the end of February ».

If these institutions have not all been able to show themselves beyond reproach during the health crisis, they have not shown any hostility towards health measures either. Hard to believe, therefore, that these hearings will push the commission to go once morest the government. But, probably because of the urgency, it is unlikely that the Senate will receive Didier Raoult, Christian Perronne or Amine Umlil.
