Opening defeat for Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace

The Upper Austrian coach saw his team lose 2-1 in the London duel at Brentford on Sunday.

The key player was Yoane Wissa, who assisted Bryan Mbeumo’s 1-0 goal against the run of play (29′) and scored the 2-1 goal himself (76′). An own goal by Ethan Pinnock (56′) was not enough for last year’s 10th-place team to score against last year’s 16th-place team.

Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic have England’s football champions Manchester City got off to a successful start in the league. The duo scored the goals for Pep Guardiola’s team in a well-deserved 2-0 away win against Chelsea.

Manchester City played a hard-fought match against Chelsea FC, who finished sixth in the table last season, with chances on both sides. Chelsea, in their first game under head coach Enzo Maresca – a former assistant coach to Guardiola – were unable to capitalize on their chances, unlike the serial champions. Haaland powered through after Bernardo’s pass (18th minute) to give the “Citizens” the lead, and six minutes before the end, Kovacic, who grew up in Linz, increased the lead to 2-0.
