OpenAI has undergone major personnel changes. After CEO Sam Altman was dismissed by the board of directors, president Greg Brockman subsequently announced his resignation.
The board of directors of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, suddenly announced today that CEO Sam Altman will resign because “the board of directors has lost confidence in him.” The CEO position will be temporarily replaced by Mira Murati, the original chief technology officer.
The OpenAI board of directors said, “This decision was carefully evaluated by the board of directors. Altman’s failure to continue to communicate openly with the board of directors hindered the board of directors’ ability to perform its duties.”
But a few hours later, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman also announced his resignation. He posted on the social networking site
Brockman continued, wishing everyone well and believing in the mission of creating secure (general artificial intelligence) that benefits all of humanity.
When OpenAI announced Altman’s dismissal earlier, it said that Brockman would also step down as chairman of the board of directors, but would remain with the company and report to the new CEO. Obviously Brockman did not appreciate it.
