The ‘Innovative Small Module Reactor (i-SMR) Technology Development Project’ is a project to develop the next-generation SMR with competitiveness to enter the global SMR market in the 2030s. A total of 399.2 billion won will be invested for six years from next year to develop and verify core technologies and perform standard design.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plan to establish a separate corporate-type project group for efficient management of the project, and plan to select a competent project group leader to manage the project overall.
