Since January 2013, the Protestant parish of Calau has been working wonders by contributing a cozy art house cinema to the cultural mix of the area. This is not just any ordinary cinema; it’s a place where the popcorn is almost as diverse as the films being shown! With their collaboration with the regional association for film communication MV eV, the makers are serving up a delightful platter of both contemporary blockbusters and those golden cinema classics that make you reminisce about the days when phones werenât glued to our hands.
Now, letâs talk about the âOpen-light gamesâ. Yes, thatâs right! Imagine enjoying a film and then getting chummy with strangers about itâquite the social experiment, isnât it? The folks at Calau have taken cinema enjoyment to a whole new level! Supported by the Federal Agency for Civic Education’s âTalking Togetherâ project, this new format is akin to speed dating for filmmakers and film lovers. Not too shabby for a small town, huh?
Note from the organizers: I hate to break it to you, but this isnât a âjackpotâ cinema experience. Thanks to the rental companyâs thriving terms and conditionsâthose pesky little detailsâthe entrance fee is a flat 5 euros for everyone! So, no discounts, folks! On a brighter note, itâs also a fantastic opportunity to rub elbows with fellow film buffs! Just donât start reserving seats; theyâre as limited as good Wi-Fi in a forest! đ

This initiative, in partnership with the regional association for film communication MV eV, allows the local community to engage with a rich selection of contemporary films in addition to timeless cinema classics.
The latest offering, âOpen-light games,â presents an innovative way to enjoy cinema while fostering social interaction, which has become increasingly important in today’s world. Attendees are encouraged to engage in meaningful discussions about themes related to the film being screened, thanks to the generous support of the âTalking Togetherâ project, initiated by the Federal Agency for Civic Education.
Note from the organizers: Due to restrictions set by the rental company, reduced admission prices cannot be offered. Consequently, the general entrance fee is set at a uniform rate of 5 euros for all attendees.
