Only three candidates left: Final sprint in the race to succeed Johnson

Ex-Finance Minister Rishi Sunak once once more took the lead in the fourth vote by the conservative Tories on their new party leader. MP Kemi Badenoch left.

In the battle to succeed outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson there are only three candidates left in the race. In a vote by the Conservatives Toryparliamentary group on Tuesday, MP Kemi Badenoch left; she received the fewest votes from the remaining applicants. Another vote is to take place until there are only two candidates left. After that, the party members have the floor.

It should be clear on September 5 who will succeed Johnson as party leader and head of government. The ex-finance minister has so far been the favourite Rishi Sunak, who, as before, received the most votes in Tuesday’s vote. Foreign Minister has also been good opportunities so far Liz Truss conceded, which came in third on Tuesday, behind Secretary of State for Commerce Penny Mordaunt.
