A few weeks ago, rumors suggested that the entire cell phone family Samsung Galaxy S24 would have titanium as one of the elements used in the construction of the device structure. However, new information points to a slightly different path.
According to information gathered by the South Korean news website TheElec, only the Galaxy S24 Ultra must be constructed with titanium and the alloy with the element that will be used by the Samsung must be prepared by a Chinese company called Solomon.
The sources heard by TheElec also stated that Samsung had started studying the use of titanium in smartphones around two years ago, but “it was only recently” that the South Korean company made the decision to bring the element to the mobile universe.
Interestingly, Samsung’s decision came following the Apple promote titanium as one of the biggest highlights no iPhone 15 Pro e 15 Pro Max. Therefore, given the advance of its rival, the South Korean brand does not want to be left behind in the launch of its high-end line.

Around 15 million titanium frames are being planned by Samsung. However, the move to adopt the element increases the chassis cost of each unit by “four to five times”. Until then, the current value is less than US$20 per device.
The change is only mentioned for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but the report highlighted that, “depending on reception”, titanium might arrive for other Galaxy cell phones in the future. Z line foldable devices would be a logical point for expansion.

According to new information revealed by leaker Revengus, Samsung should actually use titanium in the construction of the Galaxy S24 line. However, instead of reserving this material just for the S24 Ultra, all models will be graced with the new feature.
Therefore, unlike Apple with the iPhone 15 Pro line, Samsung should become the first manufacturer to widely use titanium in smartphones.
The fact that the Cupertino company limits the new material to only its most powerful Pro line phones is something that may have influenced Samsung, since the Galaxy S24 is developed to be more affordable than the Ultra model.

Another relevant detail commented by the leaker involves the origin of titanium. For him, Samsung has the capacity to obtain the material frames from its own factory in South Korea.
However, if demand is too high for smartphones, there is a chance that the company will enter into partnerships to ensure a constant supply of raw materials.
If it becomes reality, the Galaxy S24 line should be slightly lighter than its predecessor, as titanium is lighter than aluminum.
For now, Samsung does not comment on the matter. Therefore, we emphasize that everything should be considered as just another market rumor.
