Onion jam (or confiture) is a favorite delicacy of the French. Of course, we are much more accustomed to jam made from fruits or berries, but onion confiture is a fairly sweet and aromatic dish. It can be added to main dishes with meat or poultry, put on burgers or used as a spread on sandwiches. Moreover, this dish is prepared very quickly.
Ingredients:
Red onion – 500 grams Dry red wine – 20 milliliters Olive oil – 1 tablespoon Red wine vinegar – 5 milliliters Sugar – 100 grams Salt and pepper
Preparation:
Peel and chop the onion. Fry in a saucepan in olive oil, allowing excess moisture to escape. Add sugar and fry until the onion is caramelized. Add vinegar and leave to cool at room temperature. Add wine to the cooled onion mass and cook for medium heat until the future jam begins to thicken. Salt and pepper to taste.
