An AMD Ryzen 5800U processor (8 cores / 16 Threads for a frequency of up to 4.4 GHz) coupled with an AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics PC and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. There is also an “Intel” version of the Onexplayer mini, comprising an Intel Core i7-1195G7 and an Iris Xe graphics chip.

In terms of ergonomics, it has two asymmetrical analog sticks, Xbox style, as well as a directional cross. But also on the left edge of the 7-inch screen is a button to switch from pointer stick control to touch control on the screen.

A console capable of (almost) everything to run

The great particularity of the OnexPlayer mini which differentiates it from other portable consoles is the Windows 11 preinstallallowing you to play a wide spectrum of games.

Thanks to the Ryzen 5 5800U and the Radeon RX Vega, the promise of the OnexPlayer mini is to be able to run recent games without too much trouble, provided you sacrifice the graphic quality of the games. It will be necessary make do with 30 FPS for headlines.

Here’s the kind of performance you can expect on big games, at 1280×800:

  • Elden Ring (bas) : 40-45 FPS
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (medium, FSR on): 39-45 FPS
  • Halo Infinite (moyen) : 30-35 FPS FPS
  • Resident Evil 2 (elevated): 40-45 FPS FPS
  • The Witcher 3 (moyen) : 45-50 FPS

But when it comes to less demanding games such as small independent 2D games, the OnexPlayer has no problem doing them. run at 60 FPS.

Unfortunately, like many portable consoles of this type, where it fails is in terms of autonomy. With greedy games, it is complicated to play more than 2 hours. However, on games requiring less resources, the autonomy switches from 4 to 5 hours.

Ultimately, despite a fairly substantial price, it’s a very good portable console under Windows 11 supporting an immense amount of games with plenty of power. It allows you to play all your favorite games provided you make some concessions in terms of graphics.
