Personalization is the key word d’iOS 16 of OneUI 5, the latest version of the Android overlay developed by Samsung. The manufacturer will deploy it in the form of a public beta in the coming weeks, but we already know what to expect since Samsung was largely inspired by iOS 16.
We already knew that the locked screen of OneUI 5 resumed several customization options of the Apple OS. Samsung y add the ability to paste a short video as a wallpaper (take note, Apple!).
In terms of new features, Samsung offers to group several widgets on top of each other to be able to swipe them from right to left and vice versa, a function available on iPhone since iOS 14 (the scan is vertical there). OneUI can also create a smart widget stack with suggestions, the equivalent of iOS’ smart widget scrolling.
Samsung’s overlay also allows you to extract text from images to, for example, copy it into a note (Live Text in iOS 15). The concentration modes inaugurated in iOS 15 also go a head in OneUI 5, where you can create sets of personalized settings according to your current activity, rest, work, relaxation…
We obviously laugh, but OneUI 5 also has interesting functions that Apple might take inspiration from, such as this panel which groups together all the settings of all the devices connected to the smartphone, or even this function which scans the information that the we are regarding to share: the notification warns that we might share personal information.
