OnePlus’ next budget phone for the US could be the Nord N300

OnePlus fans in the US may soon get their hands on a new budget phone, which is expected to launch as the Nord N300. Not all OnePlus Nord series models are sold in the United States. Except for the entry-level Nord N series, other Nord phones like Nord 2T and Nord CE are only available in Europe and India.

OnePlus is said to have a handful of new products planned for the second half of this year. In addition to this budget smartphone, the company is expected to release a new flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. OnePlus also plans to release the Nord 3 in addition to new headphones and wearables.

The FCC has certified a new OnePlus phone with the model number “CPH239.» As reported RootmyGalaxy, the phone will launch as the OnePlus Nord N300. Judging by the marketing name, this should be the successor to the Nord N200 which was announced in June 2021. Considering it’s been a year since the Nord N200 was unveiled, it’s possible the Nord N300 will be available soon.

A cheaper alternative to the Nord N20 5G

When the Nord N300 launches, it should sell for less than the Nord N20 5G announced in April 2022. After all, the Nord N200 5G was launched at a lower price than the Nord N10 5G. Despite having a three-digit name, the two-digit Nord N smartphones are the superior models. Along with the list, the source revealed some specs of the device.

The Nord N300 would have a Full HD+ display like the Nord N200 5G. It will also have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Nord N series phones usually have a microSD card slot, so it’s quite possible that the Nord N300 will also support storage expansion. It has also been suggested that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon processor. Last year’s model came with a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset under its hood, and while OnePlus isn’t expected to reuse the same processor, it might make do with the slightly more powerful Snapdragon 480+ 5G. Unfortunately, no camera details have yet been provided.

Apparently OnePlus will ship the phone with Android 11 rather than Android 12. This is the same version of Android that came pre-installed with the Nord N20 when it launched a few months ago. OnePlus has also confirmed that its Nord N series phones will only receive one OS upgrade, which means that this model will only be updated to Android 12. Considering that Android 12 has already almost a year old and Android 13 is on the horizon, that’s not the best way to cut costs. Notwithstanding, when the OnePlus Launching the Nord N300, those looking for a phone that doesn’t break the bank will have another option to choose from.
